Spring
Warm, clear, and light in its overall feel
All three Spring sub-seasons share a warm undertone and a clear, lively color harmony rather than an earthy, muted one. Cool colors, muted or murky tones, and black flatter Spring people less — and gold usually suits them better than silver.
Summer
Cool, soft, and muted like a watercolor
All three Summer sub-seasons look most harmonious in cool colors blended with a touch of blue or gray. Makeup should be cool and soft; silver is usually more flattering than gold, and hard contrasts or overly warm tones overwhelm all three.
Autumn
Warm, rich, and golden in its overall feel
All three Autumn sub-seasons look best in warmer colors and gold, with an earthy quality that feels rich and natural. At the same time the three differ quite a bit — finding the right shade makes a big difference.
Winter
Coolness, clarity, and dramatic intensity
All three Winter sub-seasons should embrace cool contrasts and avoid warm or overly soft tones. Winter is the coolest and most high-contrast of the seasons — clean, clear colors that recall jewels, without a trace of warmth or softness. Makeup should be cool and defined, and silver is usually more flattering than gold.
