Color Season:

Deep Autumn

Deep Autumn is the most dramatic and deep of the Autumn palettes — an elegant mix of sensual tones with a touch of honey. The colors are saturated and earthy: dark espresso, deep forest green, aubergine, and mahogany. Overly light pastels or clear, icy tones make the natural luster fade; Zendaya is a frequently used example. It is easily confused with Deep Winter, which shares the depth but is cool where Deep Autumn is warm.

Best neutrals & metals

Neutrals

Linen, warm sand, deep blue-green, deep plum, mahogany, deep espresso

Metals

Gold — especially antique or brushed — plus bronze and copper; silver in darker, oxidized versions

Colors to avoid

Light pastels can read almost childish on a Deep Autumn — it is easy to disappear in them. Pale pink turns the skin ashen and crisp white drowns the depth. Neon and clear primary colors also compete with your earthy depth.

Deep Autumn vs
Deep Winter

Deep Autumn and Deep Winter are sometimes confused. Both seasons are characterized by deep, moderately clear colors. The difference lies above all in temperature. Where Deep Winter's palette consists of predominantly cool colors with blue and gray undertones, Deep Autumn's palette is marked by warmer colors with undertones of rust, copper, and gold. Both seasons suit dark shades, but harmony only appears when the color choice matches the natural undertone.
