How does dyed hair and undyed eyebrows affect my analysis when my natural hair color is actually much darker?

Published: June 4, 2025 Category: Digital Color Analysis By: Customer Service Team

When we do a digital color analysis, your natural appearance is our starting point. Hair color and eyebrows work as clues to how warm or cool, light or dark you are by nature. That’s why we often ask for photos where both hair and eyebrows are shown without coloring or heavy styling.

Does dyed hair matter?

No, you don’t need to worry if your hair is dyed in the photos as long as we know what your natural hair color is. Darker roots, eyebrows, and old photographs can help us assess tone and depth. In your case, the information that you’re naturally dark brown is enough for us to see the full picture.

It’s always easier to make an accurate assessment if we see the natural hair, but we also take into account skin tone, eye color, and contrast. If you only have colored photos, you can supplement with a brief description or extra photos where the original color is visible.

Why are undyed eyebrows important?

Eyebrows sit close to skin and eyes and are rarely affected by colorings in the same way as hair. Therefore, they give us a more unchanged picture of your natural color scale. That your eyebrows are undyed makes the analysis easier – we can more easily see if the overall impression leans toward, for example, a soft autumn palette or another color type.

Tips for best results

  1. Please send at least one photo where the hair is shown in its natural color, if possible.
  2. Photograph in daylight without strong shadows and with minimal makeup.
  3. Briefly mention previous hair colors so we can more easily interpret the shades.

By sharing that information, you get a more accurate analysis, even if your hair is currently dyed.
