How accurate is your digital analysis compared to in-person?

Published: May 29, 2025 Category: Digital Color Analysis By: Customer Service Team

Many wonder how reliable a digital color analysis is compared to a traditional, in-person consultation. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions and tips on how to get the most accurate result possible.

Do I need to answer questions about colors I like?

We often ask about your personal color preferences, but answering is completely optional. The information is only used as guidance if it’s a close call between two seasons. Feel free to add more photos or clarify your answers – we work with your analysis until we feel confident about the result.

What if I have dyed hair?

Your natural hair color is central when determining your color season. If you’ve dyed your hair, please also send photos where your natural hair color is visible. This helps us make a more accurate assessment.

Do you use HEX codes in the analysis?

No. We don’t extract color codes from images, as this method rarely gives reliable results. Skin tone assessment in particular requires practice and a trained eye. Technology may support us more in the future, but for now, human experience does the best job.

How accurate is the digital analysis?

Our experience is that both digital and in-person analyses have their own challenges. After many completed analyses, we’ve developed a practiced eye and a clear process. In the digital format, lighting and white balance in photos are the biggest challenges. To help us see your colors correctly, we always recommend photographing yourself in natural daylight.

With good source material and the right methodology, a digital analysis can provide recommendations just as reliable as an in-person meeting. The result is based on the same careful assessment of skin tone, eyes, and hair – just in a digital format.
