How do you ensure the undertone is visible in a digital color analysis when the camera mostly captures the overtone and can’t be white balanced?

Published: June 4, 2025 Category: Digital Color Analysis By: Customer Service Team

Cameras, especially phone cameras, can amplify the overtone and make the undertone difficult to interpret. Our digital color analysis therefore weighs in both photos and your own observations.

How do we handle camera limitations?

  • Multiple photos in daylight minimize white balance errors.
  • We supplement the photos with your observations about hair, skin, and eyes.
  • Our extensive experience with color analysis helps us see undertones even when lighting isn’t perfect.
  • If the result feels wrong, we always redo the analysis at no extra cost.

Why might the self-test show something different?

The self-test is based on the answers you choose and works mostly as a point calculation. It’s meant as guidance. We’re developing a digital draping tool that gives more accurate results. Feel free to try the beta version via our draping test.

Tips for better photos

  1. Photograph in soft daylight, preferably outdoors or by a window.
  2. Keep the background neutral and avoid strong colors near the face.
  3. Take multiple photos with different tops to see how the skin tone is affected.

With good photo material and our expertise, a digital analysis can give a clear picture of your personal color palette.
